Introduction

teacher

There are living things all around you. For example, look at this photograph. What can you see?

The bush

There are plants and animals (living things) as well as things that are not alive such as water and rocks (non-living things) in the picture.

A study of living things leads to an appreciation of the natural world - the plants, the animals, and how they affect each other and make up our environment.

So what is our environment ? It is all the things that are around us.

The Aboriginal idea of 'land' is a good way to remember what environment means.

Environment is soil, rocks, water, animals, plants, air - everything in your surroundings.   And that includes you!
