About Virtually Archibald
Virtually Archibald is designed for teachers to use with students who are working towards achieving Stage 3 and 4 outcomes in the NSW Board of Studies English, Creative Arts K-6 and Visual Arts 7-10 syllabuses. It should take at least one term to complete.
Students learn about portraiture by making portraits and by studying portraits created by professional artists and other students. They emulate the Archibald Prize by creating a portfolio of portraits, one of which they select as their entry in a virtual portrait exhibition organised by the teacher.
The teacher’s role in guiding students through the task is integral to its success. The ‘Support’ section of the resource provides information relating to its implementation.
